Foreign Language Faculty
My name is Silvia Dueñas, and I’m excited to be your teacher this year. I was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico, and I bring with me a deep appreciation for language, culture, and education. I’ve been teaching for over 10 years in both English and Spanish, and I’ve had the privilege of working in bilingual and Spanish immersion programs across the Phoenix area. These experiences have shaped my belief in the power of multilingual education and cultural competence in the classroom.
Currently, I serve as an AP Reader, which allows me to stay closely connected to the national standards and expectations for AP-level coursework. This role has deepened my understanding of the AP curriculum and assessment, and I bring this insight directly into my teaching to better prepare students for academic success.
I hold an advanced degree in Education, and I am committed to lifelong learning and professional growth. My goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment where all students feel empowered to learn, express themselves, and succeed—both linguistically and academically.
